See also The Global Expansion of Judicial Power, edited by C. Neal Tate and Torbjörn Vallinder (N.Y.: New York University Press, 1995), chs. 1 and 2. - In this latter work, Vallinder offers this definition: "Thus the judicialization of politics should normally mean either (1) the expansion of the province of the courts or the judges at the expense of the politicians and/or the administrators, that is, the transfer of decision-making rights from the legislature, the cabinet, or the civil service to the courts or, at least, (2) the spread of judicial decision-making methods outside the judicial province proper. In summing up we might say that judicialization essentially involves turning something into a form of judicial process" (13)
