This brief study describes barriers and facilitators encountered in implementation of a prevention with positives programme that utilized advanced practice psychiatric nurses to facilitate adherence to antiretroviral therapy as well as neuroleptic medications in persons with SMI who were also HIV-positive. The nurses served as liaisons between infectious disease and mental health services, as well as providing comprehensive in-home and outreach services at least weekly to these persons.
