    • 6LiI crystal used for these measurements had been salvaged and reencapsulated from a larger, partially-hydrated and fractured unit, exhibiting a degraded resolution. A brand new crystal, 5 cm in diameter and 1.5 cm long has been developed by Proteus Inc. At the expense of a loss in 24 keV neutron efficiency by a factor ∼ 3, the background rate under the thermal peak is reduced by a factor ∼ 20 in this unit, greatly improving the capabilities of the calibration facility.
