The EDC fitting was performed with use of an Igor-Pro macro written by R. G. Jones. XSWfit is a procedure, also written as an Igor-Pro macro, which automatically fits XSW data. It is based on the formalism originally developed by D. P. Woodruff in Fortran for calculating the XSW profile for a given set of parameters. Copies of both sets of Igor routines can be obtained from Rob Jones, e-mail robert.g.jones@nottingham.ac.uk.
