    • In ref. 28, the critical field of ∼7 × 102 Oe was estimated. In the estimation of the cutoff term ln(1. 14εc/kBTc, a large cutoff energy (1.14εc/kBTc) ∼ 300 was adopted. This value is the same as that for the superfluidity 3He. We took this cutoff energy to be ∼20 (ref. 29, However the difference between two cutoff terms is only less than a factor of two due to the logarithmic scale. In ref. 28, a Landau parameter Z0, 3 was used, which is the same as that in the ABM state of 3He. By using Z 0, 3, the free energy difference between d ∥ H and d ⊥ H is expressed as (ref. 33) ΔFZ(H,T) ≈ 5(1, T/T c)χnH2. Two of the parameters in ref. 28 may need to be corrected: First, the value of
    • 3). This correction makes the flipping field √2 times smaller. Second, the factor of the wave function is √2 times larger than that of Leggett. This correction makes the dipole energy 2 times smaller. As a result, He estimated 2√2 times larger value of the flipping field. Taking into account those corrections, his estimation of the flipping field should be ∼250 Oe. The main difference between his result and ours is the assumption of the cutoff energy and the Landau parameter.
