    • •• Team Physician Consensus Statement. Concussion (mild traumatic brain injury): a consensus statement (corrected statement). Med Sci Sport Exerc 2006, 38:395-399. It is interesting to note that almost all such statements are similarly described with some caveat that is designed to limit a cast in stone characterization of recommendations when used in a legal arena. However, consensus-type statements have the ability to be used as either swords to attack the delivery of service or as shields to defend against such attacks. This statement addresses the medical-legal issues by stating that adequate insurance should be in place to help protect the physician, the athlete, and the sponsoring organization.
