36. Throughout this paper we neglect any back action of the gate or dot on the quantum wire. In principle, the gate and dot can provide a local potential disturbance in the wire that can pin the Wigner crystal at sufficiently small source-drain voltages. However, estimating the energy scale for this is not straightforward at it relies on a renormalization group analysis as discussed in Ref..
