    • In 1988 Jon Goss was calling for a closer cooperation between architecture and geography, considering the ways that architecture may be understood: as cultural artefact, as an object of value, as a sign, and also arguing that architectural form must be considered in its spatial context. In his analysis, Goss stresses the 'sociospatial' significance of architecture. Subsequent work by Loretta Lees calls attention to embodied practices and performance, arguing that it is important to understand not only what space means but also what it does. Mitch Rose also pursues the question of how landscape works rather than how it may be defined and categorised. In pursuing an interpretation of architecture through its occupation, Mark Llewellyn uses a 'polyvocal' approach to go beyond the official historical public records of architectural spaces by uncovering the experiences of those who dwelled in them
