I have also used four volumes of the Directory of Women Teachers and other Women engaged in Higher Education(London, Year Book Press, 1913‐18) but these are often vague and incomplete. University staff statistics were not collected nationally until the UGC began to publish them in 1923 and then they were not classified by sex.
