    • The ultimate information carriers in a scintillator detector are secondary photoelectrons in a phototube or photodiode. However, our interest in this article is in intrinsic causes of nonlinearity in the detector material itself. Scintillation light is the final stage of energy transfer within the actual scintillator material, so these photons are the information carriers of interest to us in those materials.
