Substance abuse and personality disorders in homeless drop-in center clients: symptom severity and psychotherapy retention in a randomized clinical trial. Compr Psychiatry 2005; 46:371-379. Although several factors prohibit generalizing the findings (very low retention rates, small size of sample, study attrition, predominantly male sample, disproportionate rates of A and C), it must be concluded that the study is very important in the sense that it shows that adding low-intensity psychotherapies in dually diagnosed populations, even in the homeless, is effective in enhancing the utilization of the treatment offered to the patients.
