    • S. W. Lee, Macromolecules 36, 9905 (2003). This work suggested that submicrogrooves created by rubbing on polystyrene (PS) surface were responsible for homogeneous LC alignment. However, for PS with molecular weight Mw >9800, the submicrogrooves, and hence the LC alignment, appeared to be perpendicular to rubbing.
