    • 2 (25 mL) and water (25 mL) were added. The organic layer was separated and concentrated. The resulting dark oil was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel eluted with n-heptane/ethyl acetate gradient to yield the desired product as an oil or a solid. The lower amounts of catalyst (2 wt %) work equally well, especially with EW-substituted bromoaryl derivatives.

    • 2 (25 mL) and water (25 mL) was added. After decantation and separation, the organic layer was evaporated to dryness and the residue was taken in ethanol (20 mL). The resulting suspension was stirred at 20 °C and filtered to give 3.81 g of 12 as a brown solid.
