    • (a)In analogy with biochemical literature we have retained the stereonotation for 6 which is defined by its relationship to L‐glyceraldehyde 3‐phosphate, (b) As evident from enzymic assays, the GPO activity is only marginally affected by D‐6 and the isomeric glycerol 2‐phosphate. This suggests that either the racemate or common commercial mixtures of 1(2)‐monophosphates could also be utilized instead of enantiomerically pure L‐6 as inexpensive alternatives.
