I first detected this back in 1987 when I wrote a somewhat contentious article on 'Three myths in search of a reality in urban studies' Many then on the left were outraged. But when we look at the career trajectories and publications of many who were on the left at that time, the appalling depth and width of this passive revolution becomes all too apparent. Against this corruption of the radical spirit, both Ash Amin and Nigel Thrift can claim with considerable justification that they have fought a noble rearguard action. I, for one, certainly appreciate their efforts on that front
