PMMA5 and PMMA10 copolymers are mainly composed of racemic dyads (Table 1); most anhydride groups should thus have racemic stereoconfigurations. The reaction is not limited by the tacticity of the polymer but is faster in case of the isotactic polymers (ref 16).

Similar results were reported for blends of poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) and PA where increasing amounts of imide groups were obtained with increasing fraction of PA in the blend (refs 10 and 41). However, in those studies, there was no information on the composition of the graft copolymers obtained in situ.
