    • During the period of revision of the manuscript, a photoabsorption study of 11-cis Shiff-base retinal chromophore cation in the gas phase has been published: Nielsen, I. B.; Lammich, L.; Andersen, L. H. Phys. Rev. Lett. 2006, 96, 18304. This study confirms our prediction and places the absorption band due to the optically allowed excitation to the first electronically excited singlet state at around 600 nm.
