note
-
There is an artifact in the model which prevents this simulated system from reaching a fully saturated state. It appears as an unrealistic jump in the catalyst concentration in the areas where the waves once propagate but reactants get consumed too fast. The same artifact appears also in the simulations of a closed dimensionless system. Nevertheless, good qualitative agreement was obtained with experiments. It remains as a challenge to develop a reduced model that reproduces the wave transmission phenomenon observed in the experiments.
