The overlaid structures were generated in the following manner: the equilibrium conformations of compounds were determined in Spartan (Wavefunction Inc.) using molecular mechanics (MMFF94 forcefield). The structures were then manually overlaid using the alignment feature in DSViewerPro (Accelrys Inc.).

note
-
The equilibrium conformations of compounds were determined in Spartan (Wavefunction Inc.) using molecular mechanics (MMFF94 forcefield). The dihedral angle of the amide bond (O-C-N-C) was defined as either 180° or 0° in order to compare the s-trans and s-cis configurations.
