Lower lying states were treated as core states. 3s, 3p (Ca) states were included in the basis sets to avoid core-core overlaps. A k mesh of 84 (cubic structures) and 343 (orthorhombic structures) irreducible points in the Brillouin zone ensured convergence with respect to the number of k points. The spatial extension of the orbitals forming the basis was optimized to minimize the total energy.
