Stratton v. Hawaii Electric Light Co., 108 F.3d 339, 1996 WL 733161 (9th Cir. Hawaii) (unpublished memorandum decision) (court held that the decision of the employer to exclude Stratton because of sensitivity to ammonia was justified: she had been sensitized in a previous job; in the job for which she was applying she would have handled paper treated with ammonia. The court noted, that the employer's "decision not to hire Stratton was based upon its reasonable belief . . that performing the duties of a planner's aide would result in a high probability of substantial harm to Stratton's health. Since a planner's aide must constantly handle blueprints treated with ammonia, no reasonable accommodation was possible." Therefore, the employer's decision was legitimate.)
