    • (b) Isoquinoline, 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline, 1-methoxycarbonyl-isoquinoline, 1-methoxycarbonyl-2-methylisoquinolinium iodide, and 2-tert-butoxycarbonyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-1-carboxylic acid were subjected to microbial oxidations using Pp NCIB 9816 without success: no diols were isolated from the fermentation broth. Curently, we are testing other organisms to effect microbial oxidation of these substrates;
