    • In this essay we refer to whites as people of largely European descent, coloreds as people of European, Asian, and African descent, Indians as people of Indian descent, and black Africans as people of west and central African descent. The term "black" is a generic one for all colored, Indian, and black African people and does not necessarily refer to color.
