note
-
5 we confirmed that the endcapping reaction of the growing ends in the polymerization of BTOT with Et2NCS2 -·Na+·3H2O proceeds efficiently to produce the diethyldithiocarba mate group at the terminating end quantitatively by by MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy analysis.

-
note
-
Because the 1H NMR spectroscopy analysis of the polymer obtained with a high feed ratio could not show the signals corresponding to the terminating end, the polymerization under a low feed ratio ([BOT]0/[BF30Et2]0 = 7.0) was performed.

note
-
Because the heat of the propagation reaction in the polymerization of BOT [enthalpy charge (ΔH) = -2.2 kcal/mol], calculated by ab initio molecular orbital calculations (HF/3-21G), was smaller than that of BTOT (-9.6 kcal/mol) and the 13C NMR signal of the thiocarbonyl group of BOT (188.6 ppm) appeared in a lower field in comparison with BTOT (187.6 ppm), the difference in the polymerizability could not be explained by the ring strain and basicity of the monomers.
