Thirty-one patients were evaluated in a double-blind, randomized trial to compare the results using 5% imiquimod topical cream with a placebo to treat Bowen's disease. In the treatment group the authors found 73% resolution with a relatively long follow-up period; none of the patients in the placebo group showed any improvement (P<0.001).

This paper is interesting because it reports on the first patient treated with topical 5% imiquimod in the eyelid. The patient was cured from the tumor, but needed some reconstructive eyelid surgery.
