    • The reaction rates were measured photometrically at 400 nm (3b) and 275 nm (3a) (50°C; pH 7.0; buffer: 0.01 M EPPS); other conditions are given in the legends to Figure 1 and Scheme 1. The nonlinear curve‐fitting for (pseudo)‐first order reactions, usually over two or three half‐life times, had excellent correlation coefficients (> 0.997). The observed spread of the reaction rate constants obtained from the regression was ±1%; the same spread was observed in duplicate runs.
