    • In preliminary experiments electron‐deficient hydroquinones, for example o‐and p‐tetrachlorohydroquinone and even 2,3‐dichloro‐5,6‐dicyano‐1,4‐hydroquinone could be oxidized to the corresponding quinones. In reactions with activated arenes (e. g. anisole) under mild conditions (room temperature) the corresponding diaryliodonium systems were obtained.
