    • It is relevant to note that a liquid crystal phase has been found [X. Zeng, G. Ungar, Y. Liu, V. Percec, A. E. Dulcey, J. K. Hobbs, Nature 2004, 428, 157] for which the observed diffraction pattern exhibits characteristics of quasiperiodic ordering, but on a length-scale significantly larger than that of the conventional quasicrystalline materials discussed in the present paper.
