Abdelhamid S, Blomer R, Hommel G, et al.: Urinary tetrahydroaldosterone as a screening method for primary aldosteronism: a comparative study. Am J Hypertens 2003, 16:522-530. Very important paper where studies further demonstrating that way potassium is routinely drawn and measured have a profound effect on the plasma levels and the impression of the frequency of hypokalemia. Also demonstrates that alternative measurements of aldosterone metabolites might be far more sensitive in the screening for patients with primary aldosteronism.
