    • Typical procedure for the synthesis of 2a: To a stirred solution of 1a (0.19 g, 2 mmol) and DMAD (0.28 g, 2 mmol) in 10 mL of dry ether was added dropwise, 0.02 g pyridine (0.2 mmol) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was then stirred for 24 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was separated by silica gel column chromatography (Merck 230-400 mesh) using n-hexane/EtOAc (4:1) as eluent to give 2a.
