20. Probably due to these relatively long distances between the nickel(II) ions, no significant magnetic interactions between the metal ions were observed. The temperature dependence of the effective magnetic moment per nickel(II) of (2) showed an almost constant value from 300 K (3.16 B.M.) to 10 K (3.09 B.M.), suggesting the existence of two spins, corresponding to the six-coordinate high-spin nickel(II) ion.
