In a general manner the cone conformation has been identified for all species described herein because of the AB and A'B' systems and coupling constants observed for the diastereotopic methylene protons which are very similar to those of a genuine cone conformation of monocarboxymethylcalix[4]arene 1 as determine by X-ray technique [14].
