We used the asymptotic formula for the half-width of the ground energy band in a 1D standing wave of modulation depth V0B: δ E0 = ttunnel (8π) (V0B) 34 (ErB) 14 exp [-2 (V0B ErB) 12], a formula taken from R. Campbell, Théorie générale de l'équation de Mathieu et de quelques autres quations différentielles de la Mécanique (Masson, Paris, 1995). With this definition of the tunneling time, the probability for the B particle not to have tunneled during t behaves as exp (-D t2 ttunnel2) at short times, where D=3 is the spatial dimension of the lattice.
