    • The mechanical properties of PVA hydrogel (bulk type) are 1.1-18.4 MPa (compressive modulus), 60-62% (failure strain), 2.1 MPa (failure stress), 0.17-0.43 MPa (shear modulus) for 75% water (water ratio: 3) and 0.7-6.8 (compressive modulus), 45-57% (failure strain), 1.4 MPa (failure stress), 0.1-0.4 MPa (shear modulus) for 80% water (water ratio: 4), respectively. The mechanical properties of PVA are similar to human articular cartilage
