16. ® 15 (0.14 g) was added to a solution of 3 (0.8 g; 4.65 mmol) in methanol (9.3 mL). The mixture was stirred at 45 °C for 1 h, then the resin was filtered and the solution was concentrated by fractionated distillation at 1 atm, due to the volatility of product. GC analysis of the crude product showed 100% conversion to the desired alcohol 5, which was employed directly in the next step without further purification.
