27. Mystakidou K, Rosenfeld B, Parpa E, et al. Desire for death near the end of life: the role of depression, anxiety and pain. Gen Hosp Psychiatry 2005; 27:258-262. This study of terminally ill cancer patients found a significant correlation between the wish to hasten death and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scales (HADS)-depression and HADS-anxiety scores, but not functional status, age or sex.
