We use the term 'science' to mean a particular set of predominantly Western cognitive practices and processes that generate explanations of how the physical world works, rather than the actual product of those processes.

New Scientist, Civil Service pensions are not funded by a trust fund of money accumulated throughout the period of employment. Instead the payment of pensions to retired Civil Servants is continuously funded from current income. Of course, if the staff are transferred to the private sector then the Government must allocate a sum to be placed in trust to accompany the staff, out of which their pensions will be paid after retirement. This can present quite serious cash flow problems for government. Business as usual after twelve months of strife 8 February
