note
-
The data were analyzed by analysis of variance using the mixed procedure of SAS [14]. Daily diurnal feed and water consumption data were analyzed as 12 periods of 2 h each. Live performance data were analyzed using individual BW data with treatment, trial (Model A), and their interactions as sources of variation (fixed effects) and 29-d BW as a covariate. Differences between means were determined using pairwise tests and are reported as significant where P < 0.05, unless otherwise indicated. Mortality was analyzed with chi-squared analysis using the CATMOD procedure [14]. Mortality data were not transformed, because transformations did not satisfy normality assumptions.
