After the completion of this work we have seen a paper by Bin Liu, Ying Liang, Shipping Feng, and Wei Yeu Chen, Commun. Theor. Phys. CTPHDI 0253-6102 43, 1127 (2005), where the observed dome structure of the superconducting transition temperature versus doping phase diagram has also been obtained theoretically though within quite a different framework.
