    • The thickness of the water layer is expressed throughout the Letter in monolayers (ML). 1 ML is defined in the standard way as the amount of water adsorbed on the Pt(533) surface that in a thermal desorption experiment gives rise to one desorption feature at 175 K [21] that saturates with exposure, after which multilayer desorption occurs at 160 K.
