    • The starting materials 1b and 1c were prepared starting from 4,5-diethyl-1,2-diiodo- and 4,5-dibutyl-1,2-diiodobenzenes. The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of 4,5-diethyl-1,2-diiodo- and 4,5-dibutyl-1,2-diiodobenzenes with 4-trimethylsilylphenylzinc chloride, followed by the reaction with ICl afforded 1b and 1c, respectively.
