40. In order to check how this effect could affect our results, we performed several calculations for the clean Cu(111) surface, with an increasing number of layers enclosed in the embedded region. The energies of the SS fully converge considering four Cu layers inside the region, being only 15meV higher than the reported one obtained with two layers. The inaccuracy related to the method constitutes therefore only a small fraction of the overall discrepancy with experiments.
