    • We note that our hydrogenic-type trial envelope wave function for the exciton ground state leads to the appropriate bulk limit for both small and large QWW radii, in contrast with the choice by Kasapoglu et al. [7]. Moreover, variational calculations with hydrogenic-type trial wave functions have been widely used [17] in the case of Coulomb-bound states in semiconductor heterostructures with excellent agreement with experiment.
