Landau and E.M. Lifshitz states that "Although a great majority of phase transitions is from lower to higher symmetry upon increasing temperature there are exceptions." As an exception ferroelectric (segnetoelectric) transition is mentioned. However the lower temperature segnetoelectric transition is not a symmetry breaking one. Indeed at zero temperature a ferroelectric has just one ground state in which each sublattice chooses its ground state.
