Post-hoc analysis of the subgroup of 1470 patients from the Bezafibrate Infarction Prevention study with metabolic syndrome showed, in bezafibrate treated subjects, a significant 29% reduction in risk for fatal or nonfatal myocardial infarction (P = 0.009) and a borderline significant 26% reduction in cardiac mortality risk (P = 0.056).
