    • There is good agreement between the X-ray and the neutron diffraction results (see Table 1). As expected, the distances obtained from X-ray data are systematically shorter than those from the neutron diffraction with much larger esd's. However, even in the absence of neutron measurements, we have shown that, in borane and silane chemistry, key information on hydride location may be obtained by combining X-ray, DFT, and NMR studies (see refs 10 and 11).
