-
The FAO (2002) Aggregate Household Food Security Index (AHFSI) calculates the 'food gap' between the undernourished and average national requirements, the instability of the annual food supply and the proportion of undernourished in the total population. The index ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 representing complete, risk-free, food security and zero, reflecting total famine. FAO categorised the food security situation with an index rating below 65 as 'critical'.
