Denmark conducted its first consensus conference in 1987. The first in the United States was conducted in 1997. The success of the first conference in New Zealand was such that a charitable trust has now been established in order to fund future projects. The second consensus conference in New Zealand will consider how the country should manage the problem of brushtail possums.
