    • P.R. Davidson, and D.M. Wolpert Scaling down motor memories: de-adaptation after motor learning Neurosci Lett 370 2004 102 107 This study compares the rates of return to baseline reaching trajectories when, following adaptation to a robotic force field subjects are then exposed to a null field (de-activated robot), a scaled down version of the learned field, or a field in a novel direction. De-adaptation was quicker than adaptation to the scaled down field, which were both quicker than adapting to the novel direction. This evidence that we can scale down a learned compensation in certain situations rather than replace it with a new compensation helps to explain the ability to compensate for multiple contexts.
