1. "Large" is taken to mean suppliers with multinational sites and operations throughout this article.
2. "Local" is taken to mean smaller suppliers with only one or two sites sited in one country, operating on a local basis (though not excluding cross-border activities).
3. This is an important point - although local to us. This transporter is actually based in a different country that speaks a different language - this example also shows some of the cultural difficulties of cross-border operations, which, by default, increase with the number of borders crossed.
